iLembe District Municipality Deputy Mayor, Cllr. James van Whye accompanied the MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison in the province Mr Sipho Hlomuka, MPL as he officially turned the SOD for the reconstruction of the P492 link road that is billed at R158 million. The project will create 70 temporary job opportunities and R32 million worth of SMME opportunities.
In welcoming the investment, the District Deputy Mayor thanked the provincial government for improving road connectivity, citing that the Groutville area is one of the fastest-growing settlements in the region, and that the road will improve access to tourism and heritage sites.
