MUNICIPAL LEADERSHIP
Departmental Head
MMr. Vusumuzi Mboyana was born in Umlazi in the eThekwini Metropolitan Municipality of KwaZulu-Natal.
He is the Director of Technical Services at Okhahlamba Local Municipality. Mr. Mboyana holds a BTech Degree in Urban Engineering from the Tshwane University of Technology, a National Diploma in Civil Engineering from the Mongusuthu University of Technology, a Diploma in Municipal Finance Management which he obtained from the University of Pretoria.
He also holds an NFQ Level 5 qualification in Managing Labour Intensive Construction Projects and a number of other certificates relating to local government. Mr. Mboyana matriculated at Christian High School in Durban.
He is a member of IMESA since 2007 and he also serves as a Candidate Technologist on the Engineering Council of South Africa. He joined Okhahlamba Local Municipality as the Director of Technical Services in 2020.
Before joining Okhahlamba Local Municipality, he worked at Newcastle Local Municipality as the Director of Technical Services between 2011 and 2019.
He also worked at eThekwini Metropolitan Municipality as a Project Manager for a period of five years. Before transitioning to the public sector, Mr. Mboyana worked in the private sector as a private consultant in a firm of consulting engineers as a Senior Design and Site Technician for a seven-year period.

Technical Services Department aspires to be a value-adding department in providing basic service delivery infrastructure such as Public Works Services (roads and community facilities), Project Management services and Electrical Services.
